West Ham are preparing a £1m bid for Blackburn Striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni reports suggest….
The 29 year old striker has made his intentions clear to leave Ewood Park after the Lancashire Club were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last Season, insisting he can still do a job in the worlds toughest league.
The former Portsmouth, Middlesbrough and Everton forward has impressed by scoring 114 goals in 283 games in his time in England since his move to the south coast from Maccabi Haifa FC in 2003.
With Hammers boss Sam Allardyce looking to bolster his attacking options, it seems the Nigerian powerhouse would be an ideal signing to help the London club in its return to the top flight.
Yakubu, the third highest scorer in Nigerian international history with 21 goals in 57 games, can play as an out and out striker or just behind in a supporting role and has been linked with a number of teams across the globe since Blackburn’s relegation and with the striker unwilling to once again play in the Championship (a season loan to Leicester from Everton in 2010-11) it seems the player would prefer a move back to the top flight.
West Ham have already acquired the services of 37 year old goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen from Bolton and young goalkeeper Stephen Henderson from Portsmouth but have stated on their club website that they will be looking to bring in at least five new faces for the new campaign.
