Christiano Ronaldo must be sick of the sight of his rival at the top of word football Lionel Messi. Despite both players being by far and away the best players in the world, the Real Madrid man just can’t get out of the shadow of the little Argentinian.
Messi wrapped up 2012 by beating the all time goalscoring record for a single season which was duly credited with him picking up the Balond’or for a record fourth successive time. The last player to pick up the award of course was Ronaldo, but since then, he struggles to any of the limelight when in another era he would be one of the most decorated men in football history.
This trend looks set to continue too if this weekend is anything to go by. Christiano Ronaldo scored a hat trick in the space of just ten minutes as Real beat Getafe 4-0. Ronaldo must have been looking forward to the morning headlines being all about him this time with such a great performance, but yet again, you can imagine Ronaldo would have been throwing the remote at the TV after seeing Messi go one better by scoring 4 goals in Barca’s 5-1 win just hours after the Real game! Once again Ronaldo was overshadowed!
It will be interesting to see how the two fair against each other head to head which always gives Ronaldo the opportunity to steal the limelight. I have been lucky enough to get hold of the most in demand sports tickets in the world to see two of the greatest footballers of all time grace the same pitch and believe me it was the best football match i have ever been to. If you fancy Real Madrid v Barcelona tickets 2013 for the upcoming copa del ray semi final then you shouldn’t hang around as they are like gold dust and it will be an unbelievable experience!
Will it be Messi or Ronaldo who gets the limelight though?
