OK so Italy might not have been many peoples favourites to win Euro 2012 at the beginning of the tournament, but man they really are doing the business now!
Germany have looked awesome throughout the tournament, but Italy just didn’t give them a sniff. Balotelli might have stolen the headlines with his two goals, but we all know who the real star of the show is…Andrea Pirlo!
Pirlo has to be the player of the tournament so far! I have always loved him as a player and the way he has played in this tournament is exactly why. So cool under pressure, unreal passing ability and vision, and he does it all at his pace. He is a wizard.
If Spain are going are going to win yet a major tournament they will have to find a way to stop Pirlo from conducting the orchestra like he has done against Germany and England. I am even tempted to put a cheeky bet on Italy winning Spain over at www.partycasino.com. Or am I being too hasty? Spain will no doubt pack the midfield with six of the best players in the world which might just make it difficult for Pirlo to do his thing but it is going to be an intriguing match.
In honor of the man of the moment we have to check out a good old fashioned youtube compilation of him at work. Fortunately somebody has already gone to work on producing this video of the his game against England last week so sit back and enjoy! (To think AC Milan let him leave to Juve on a free too!!)
