Roberto Carlos has to go down as one of the best full backs of all time, and even though many of you might have thought he had retired some time ago, he has only now called time on a glittering career.
The former Brazil, Real Madrid and Inter Milan left back made 820 club appearances and 120 international caps for Brazil racking up 23 trophies to show for himself including a World Cup and three Champions Leagues!! Now that’s not that bad is it!
He has been playing in Russia for money bags ‘Anzhi’ where he will now move upstairs as the director of football for the Russian club.
We probably use the word legend far too often in the world of football but Carlos has to go down as a legend of the modern era. He might not have been as accomplished as the likes of Maldini, but his record speaks for itself and his style of play was so exciting to watch. Seeing him link up with Zidane for Real Madrid on the that left wing was awesome back in the day, and although they came once every blue moon, he scored a few blistering free kicks!
