It has been a tough couple of seasons for Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher but the 28 year old midfielder looks to be back on the comeback trail as he stepped out for United in Neil Simpson (he played under Fergie in the 80s) testimonial match vs Aberdeen.
We were actually questioning whether or not Fletcher would ever play again after suffering with a chronic bowel condition, but with this game and a call up to the Scotland team this week, he looks to be getting back on track. He will still be some way off making a competitive appearance for Untied and apparently still has the condition but Alex Ferguson has said that he was ‘stunned’ by Fletchers demand to return to action.
Despite the game being a testimonial which included cameo appearances from the likes of Dwight York and Quinton Fortune, United actually fielded a strong side. It was great to see Fletch do his thing again, and check out a uncharacteristic Paul Scholes gaff (which we are sure he will be let off for!) and an equally uncharacteristic quality goal from Anderson…
